check that your Google Account is sync'd.
Menu > system settings > accounts > Google
Also, check the Gmail App settings and make sure the "days of mail sync" is set to a desired number of days.

Clear device caches in recovery and reboot.

1.Open Settings for your device.
2.Select the menu option similar to Apps or Applications manager.
3.Find and select Gmail in the list.
4.Touch Clear data.
5.Answer OK when prompted.
6.Restart your device.
