Prerequisites

  • You need to know how to root your Android device

  • Keep in mind that your smartphone is under warranty and does not cover any damage caused while rooting your device

  • Ensure that you have valid data backup of your phone device before proceeding with rooting your device or changing fonts
Font Installer Application

This application can be found on Google play and provides large number of fonts. It is free to install and works with advertisement support. The fonts would be available as a TTF font file which can be downloaded into your device.
  • Copy the TTF font file on your SD card. Go to Menu and launch app

  • Create backup of the fonts which you have. So you can restore when required. This can be done using SuperUser

  • Tap on the local tab to find the TTF font file which you saved on the card. Tap and install the pop-up window which appears. You can even preview the new font before installing it

  • After installing the fonts, you need to reboot your device through a pop-up from installer

  • This was it!
If you don’t want to save the TTF file on your memory card. You can still install any font from online font collection. Launch the Font installer app. Open server tab and access the online catalog. On the catalog, you can see the list of TFF font files. You can preview or install fonts directly by choosing any of them in the list.

You need to simply tap on the font which you wish to install and select the option of Install. It will take only sometime before the application asks you to reboot the device and the changes would be visible after reboot.

Using iFont Application

Another app available in the market for non-rooted Samsung phones is iFont app. However, this app can be installed on other phones but requires first rooting of the device. The app is free to download from Google play store. Many fonts are available in the app and easy to install dedicated to specific regions like Japanese, Chinese or English. Below are the steps to install the fonts from online catalog directory.

If you have wished to install iFont on rooted device, then you can copy the TTF font file on SD card. And Open the iFont app. Go to settings and choose Change Font Mode. Now you can follow two options: for rooted non Samsung device, select System mode and for Samsung device, choose the Samsung Mode.
