As a side note you will have to be very careful how you proceed with the tutorial below because if we want to have access to these new features you will have to modify some registry keys and I suppose I don’t have to tell you that if you modify something else by mistake in the Registry Editor window it might damage your operating system.

A complete redesign of the system tray clock as well as the calendar:

  • Move the mouse cursor over to the lower left side of the screen.Right click on the Start button and left click or tap on the “Run” feature. Note: You can also Press and hold the “Windows” button and the “R” button. In the run dialog box write the following: “regedit” without the quotes.Press the Enter button on the keyboard or left click on the “OK” button in the Run window. Now you have the Registry Editor window in front of you.On the left side panel left click to open the “HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE”In the folder above left click to open the “Software” folder. In the “Software” folder left click to open the “Microsoft” folder. In the “Microsoft” folder left click to open the “Windows” folder. In the “Windows” folder left click on the “CurrentVersion” folder. In the “CurrentVersion” folder left click or tap on the “ImmersiveShell” folder. Now on the right side right click on an open space.Left click or tap on the “New” option.Choose from the list “DWORD(32-bit) Value”Name the DWORD as follows: “UseWin32TrayClockExperience” without the quotes.
  • Close the Registry Editor and reboot the system and you will have a new system tray clock and calendar.
Unlock a new logon screen:

  • Save the changes and reboot the operating system and you are done.
Note: to revert back the logon screen change the value of the “Treshold” key to “0”.

Switch back the Start menu to how it looked in the last builds of Windows 10:

  • Open the Registry Editor as you did in above. On the right side panel left click to open the “HKEY_CURRENT_USER” folder. In the “HKEY_CURRENT_USER” folder left click on “Software”In the “Software” folder left click on “Microsoft” to open it.In the “Microsoft” folder left click on “Windows” folder. In the “Windows” folder left click on “CurrentVersion” folder. In the “CurrentVersion” folder left click on “Explorer” to open.In the “Explorer” folder left click on “Advanced” folder to open. Now on the right side panel right click on an open space and left click on the “New” option.Select from there “DWORD (32-bit)”Name the DWORD as follows: “EnableXamlStartMenu”.Save the changes and reboot your Windows 10 Technical Preview.
